The first locomotive built in Sweden. This was ordered for the buillding of the first railway Nora - Ervalla and also the Norberg railway to transport ore. The locomotive was ready 1853 but the railway 1863 in Nora. The delay was depend on a bridge over Järleån broke down and a 3 years delay came up.

The locomotive was aimed for the railway building. Order went for Munktells works in Eskilstuna. Harald Asplund was the constructor. It had 891 track gauge. The first test run was 2 of June 1853.

The locomotive had the power to pull 16 tons and it's own weight was 17 tons. During the railway building it was busy working. As a prototype, all new constructions are prototypes, the locomotive was rebuilt several times and lastly it got a track gauge of 1435, which is the standard for Sweden.

The new copied locomotive "Förstlingen II" was ready 2004 and first used at The Swedish 150 year railway celebration. Here you can se a happy passenger at Eskilstuna market.

The locomotive was used up to 1869 when it was pointed out to be complete worn-out. For a long time it was for sale and lastly bought 1871 by Halldins works in Örebro for 800 Skr. Then it was scraped 1882.

Yet the rebuilders could find some parts when the reconstruction was on. One frame side, cylinder and one wheel. The heater was sold 1870 to Mosebacke in Stockholm to be used as heating a house. Some of these parts can be seen in Railway museum Gävle.

Eskilstuna is known for the large interest for steam machines. This of course for the large machine industrial group which was built up during 1800 and 1900. Eskilstuna became the centre for defense effort during WWII.
